A recent media release from Feeding America, estimates that more than 523,000 children in Georgia are hungry, without access to the healthy food they need for growth and development.
This can have long-term effects on their health and future. Kids who are food insecure are more likely to be held back a grade in elementary school, more likely to be sick and hospitalized, and more likely to have growth and developmental issues.
Moreover, 33 percent of children live in poverty and may have very limited access to healthy, affordable food!
1 in 7 Georgians (15.1 percent) don’t always know where they will find their next meal; the national average is 13 percent.
Consistent access to healthy foods is critical to a bright future. An adult who is chronically sick and missing work is going to have a difficult time continuing to work. A child who is too hungry to concentrate will struggle in school.

The Child Access and Visitation Program's goal is to increase the valuable time spent between a child and parent via:
Supervised Visitation:
Visitation observed by a trained professional.
Neutral Drop Off/Pick Up Sites for Child Visitation:
A mutual safe site is provided for one parent to bring the child to deliver to the other parent. This is set up so that there is no contact between the parents.
Case Intake & Assessment:
Obtaining initial information to determine problems and barriers to visitation, and setting a plan of action to intervene.
Counseling/Individual Education:
A session to address individual problems which are specific barriers to visitation.
Co-Parenting Education Sessions & Development of Parenting Plans:
A meeting between the non-custodial parent and the custodial parent with a neutral third party to establish a schedule for visits and exchanges of the child(ren) from one parent to another.
Group Parenting Education:
Group instruction for one or both parents to provide legal information, guidance on interacting with the other parent respectfully, and guidance on understanding child behavior at different age levels.
Note: legal services are not included as part of this program's services.
